B Street Collision Center is proud to be partnering with Progressive, National Auto Body Council, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States (VFW) to be donating all repair parts and labor for a 2012 Dodge Charger that was given away to an extremely deserving Veteran. The vehicle presentation was held on Wednesday November 11th at Progressive’s Service Center in LaVista, NE.
Our recipient of the 2012 Dodge Charger is Michael T. who was in the Air Force for 5 1/2 years and in the Texas Air National Guard another 1 1/2 years. Michael is originally from the Seattle, Washington area but moved to Texas with his family before he joined the Air Force. He was deployed in Iraqi twice and completed another tour in Afghanistan. He was in radio maintenance, and he explained to us he was the “fix-it guy” for Special Forces. Whatever Special Forces needed to successfully run their missions, Michael was in charge to make sure they had what they needed and that it all functioned properly. This is what he enjoyed most about his time in the military…being the go-to person and helping others during his deployments.
Earlier this year, Michael’s father accepted a job in Omaha so Michael moved with them to Nebraska. Currently, Michael is a civil engineering student at UNO. His family lives in the 156th and Dodge area so when his father cannot drive him to UNO’s campus, Michael walks!! It takes him 2 hours to walk from home to UNO. He has classes at 8:00am, so he leaves home by 6:00am. Similar to his role in the Air Force, Michael wants to help others when he graduates from UNO. He plans to join Engineers Without Borders or the Peace Corp to help underdeveloped countries build clean water sources.
We are so happy for Michael and all the great things he plans to do with his future. Now that he has a vehicle, he can get him self to class each day, he also plans to get a better-paying job, and his own place to live.
