Immediate Steps After an Accident

Safety comes first. Move your vehicle out of harm’s way if possible, turn on the hazard flashers and set up warning triangles or flares. Check yourself and others for injuries, then call the authorities to report the collision. Exchange names, addresses, driver’s license numbers, plate numbers and insurance details with the other driver and take photos of the scene. Once everyone is safe and the scene is documented, contact your insurance company and then call B Street Collision Center so we can guide you through the next steps.

After ensuring everyone is safe and notifying the authorities, your insurance carrier should be contacted to report the incident. Once you have a claim number, call B Street. We’ll work with your adjuster to arrange estimates, towing and repairs. Our team can answer questions about coverage, deductibles and scheduling so there are no surprises.

Collect the other driver’s name, address, phone number, driver’s license number, license‑plate number and insurance details. Record the names of any injured passengers or witnesses and take photos of damage and the surrounding area. Avoid admitting fault or arguing with other drivers; treat the exchange as a fact‑gathering process.

Insurance & Claims

No. Insurers may suggest a preferred shop, but you have the legal right to choose your own collision repair facility. B Street works with all insurance companies and can handle the paperwork for you. We’re part of the Assured Performance Network and hold certifications with many manufacturers, so feel confident selecting us regardless of your insurer’s recommendation.

Coverage depends on your policy, deductible and fault determination. Most comprehensive or collision policies cover accident‑related repairs minus your deductible. B Street coordinates directly with adjusters to document damages and submit supplemental invoices if hidden damage is found. Hail damage and other “acts of nature” are generally covered and typically do not raise your premium, but check your policy for details.

Report the accident to your insurer as soon as possible. Provide the claim representative with the accident details, photos and police report number. Once a claim number is issued, contact B Street to schedule your estimate. We’ll prepare a detailed repair plan and communicate directly with your insurance adjuster to expedite approval and payment.

The deductible is the portion of repair costs you are responsible for under your insurance policy. It is usually paid to the repair shop when you pick up your vehicle. Your insurance carrier covers the remaining balance. If you have questions about deductible amounts, contact your agent or claim handler.

B Street always uses genuine manufacturer (OEM) parts for safety, fit and longevity. OEM parts are tested and approved by vehicle manufacturers, while aftermarket parts are not, which is why B Street will advocate for OEM components. We work with insurers to demonstrate why OEM parts protect you and preserve your vehicle’s value.

A car is considered “totaled” when the cost to repair it exceeds its market value. In that case the insurer usually pays you the vehicle’s pre‑accident value. If you decide to keep the vehicle, you’ll need to pay for all repairs and obtain a salvage title. B Street’s estimators can help determine whether repairs make financial sense and advise you on your options.

Yes. B Street works with every major and regional insurer and is a preferred or certified provider for many manufacturers. We will handle claim negotiations, supplements and paperwork so you don’t have to.

No. Insurance companies cannot require multiple estimates, although you’re free to obtain them. What matters is choosing a shop you trust. B Street’s comprehensive damage assessment and blueprinting process ensures all necessary repairs are included, minimizing surprises later.

Estimates vary because some shops may overlook hidden damage, omit alignment or paint blending, or use non‑OEM parts. B Street’s certified technicians follow a detailed repair blueprint with multiple checkpoints, damage assessment, parts, metal repair, fill & finish, paint repair, reassembly and final detail to ensure nothing is missed. Our estimate reflects the true cost to safely restore your vehicle to manufacturer standards.

Repair Process & Timeline

Our process includes seven stages. After damage assessment and blueprinting, we order necessary parts, complete structural and metal repairs, perform fill & finish work, refinish panels with precision paint matching, reassemble the vehicle and perform a thorough detail. Each stage is documented and signed off by a manager as part of our quality control program.
